Miscellany
I've had a bunch of interesting things I stumbled on filed away in my 'to blog' folder for ages and haven't gotten around to writing about them, so here's a quick list:
From http://www.technologyreview.com: "
Visit Amazon Light at
www.kokogiak.com/amazon4
, and you’ll see a plain search box that allows you to locate any product in Amazon.com’s database."
If you ever have a problem with google's auto-sense and it sends you to the wrong language page (last week there was a period of a few hours where it insisted on sending me to www.google.se), you can use
http://google.com/ncr
to avoid that.
Roy's got
an Outlook addin
that helps fight comment spam.
A
fun tablet app
, forget where I saw this, probably via scoble.
A
list of links to articles
that describe how microsoft builds software.
"Did you know that you can go to
http://www.passport.com
and add your mobile number with a PIN as a mechanism to sign into passport from your Mobile phone?"
You can
track UPS packages via email.
You can
upload images to snapfish via email
.
Crabby Office Lady is out of the bag
!
Reduce the size of your powerpoint presentations
.
An oldie but goodie, if you're still using win2k:
enabling tab completion in cmd.exe
If you want to programatically manipulate graphics, check out
this library to get the EXIF data from JPGs,
or
this component from Microsoft
.
Play Oregon Trail online
!

The Crabby Lady seems interesting but there is no feed available, therefor no read. :o(
With all the videos available, this would have been a very nice video podcast. ;(

Looks like you guys have had your home photo studio for right at a year now. Wondering if you're still happy with your choice of setups and/or have made changes to equipment, etc. A follow-up would be nice, if you can find the time. I'm thinking of doing something similar, but have been considering Photogenic monolights.

Love it, although I am currently researching hot lights/a softbox so that I can do light modeling. With the flashes I often end up guessing and doing a lot of test shots and readjusting the lighting multiple times to get it just so. Also, I'm going to buy another backdrop sometime soon because I'm getting tired of the blue one =)
