Windows 7 beta 1 announced during CES keynote - includes links
Steve Ballmer announced during his CES keynote the immediate availability of the Windows 7 beta to TechNet Plus and MSDN subscribers.
The keynote also included demos of how Windows 7 is faster, more reliable, and makes it easier to do what you want.
Steve also mentioned then that an open download of the Windows 7 beta would become available (already is now).

- Homegroup is another enhancement i've been making use of over the holidays. I had 6 windows 7 systems running at home - all connected to each other via homegroup.

- I’m all connected with HomeGroup, I’ve got several different Libraries set up, and I’m loving the new Windows Taskbar.

- The beta will only be available for a limited time, to the first 2.5 million people who download the software.
- The software will be available only via download, and only in an ISO image.
- You'll need to burn the ISO image to a DVD in order to install the Windows 7 Beta.
- The software will be available in five languages -- English, German, Japanese, Arabic, and Hindi.
- All languages except Hindi will be available in 32- and 64-bit versions.
- For the Beta, Hindi is only available in a 32-bit version.
- All versions of the Beta will expire on August 1, 2009.
