About Perspectives on Microsoft, SQL, Business Intelligence, and other things

Hello, and thanks for looking at my blog.

I am one of the 71,172 people that work for Microsoft, which given the current estimated world population of 6,545,726,225 (see http://www.census.gov/ipc/www/popclockworld.html), makes me a member of a unique sub-population that is approximately 1/1000% of the world.

Beyond that, I’m probably most unique within Microsoft for working in Denver at Microsoft’s FRx subsidiary.  (See http://www.frxsoftware.com/FRxsoftware/default.htm.)

I am a developer on Microsoft’s Forecaster budgeting product, and I’ve been working at information systems for well over 20 years.

I am well above the average age of Microsoft employees of 36.6 (see http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/inside_ms.mspx), which brings some unique opportunities and challenges that I will undoubtedly explore as I blog.

My goal in blogging at this point is two-fold:

First, I want to add value for the people in which I engage in conversation via this blog.  I’ve decided to enter blogging without a complete understanding of those to whom I will add the most value and that in which they are interested.  Hopefully, it will be interesting to others as we explore this and other questions together.

Second, I believe that blogging technology is significant, and I want to experience it, understand it, and perhaps, even contribute to it.

Here we go…
