I think social bookmarking is an emerging technology (its all relative, as my dad would say) that has a lot of promise, especially for technical professionals trying to find good content and connect with others in their space. And it has the potential to make traditional bookmarks obsolete, but that's not a certainty. Adoption will depend on the perceived risk, effort, and reward that people see. We did some research recently on the adoption of &quot;Web 2.0&quot; technologies by technical professionals and found that about 50% of those surveyed were familiar with social bookmakring and abour 25% were actually using it. I expect both numbers to grow. Might be that we start seeing add-ins for browsers that offer social bookmarks in the browser much the same way traditional favorites are offered today.</p>
