"Ticker" and "Orbs" on Silverlight 2 Beta 2

Ticker and Orbs are cool new Silverlight apps that visualize online community activity in fun and interesting ways.

Find them here.

Ticker: shows feeds of recent social bookmarks from MSDN and TechNet; see what people are bookmarking - click on a bookmark to stop the flow and open it in your browser.

Orbs: wonder which forum threads are hot on ASP.NET, Channel 9, and other community sites? Orbs will show you.

Both are Silverlight 2 Beta 2 apps, so download the new beta, try them out, and have fun.

Why does the ticker lock up periodically if left unattended?  Is it the code or just Silverlight

Hi Mike, its a bug and we're running it down. Not Silverlight as far as I know. We ran the Ticker a lot at TechEd and encountered that issue only occassionaly. The 7 Days, Yesterday, and Today views should loop, and the Now view should just end, which might look like a lock up. We also had to build the Ticker using the feeds of the Bookmarking *Preview,* which limited us to 100 bookmarks per query (among other things), so we had to do some creative coding to render 7 end-to-end feeds that accuratyely sampled bookmarks from the week in one flow. Other than that bug, I hope you like it - I like the Now view most.
