Magic Quadrant for Information Access Technology (Gartner Research, Inc., Sept. 2, 2009)

Microsoft is positioned in the Leaders Quadrant of Gartner, Inc.'s 2009 Magic Quadrant for Information Access Technology. This Magic Quadrant assesses vendors with capabilities that go beyond enterprise search to encompass a range of technologies. Their capabilities include: search; federated search, content analytics, such as content classification, categorization and clustering, fact and entity extraction, taxonomy creation and management, information presentation (for example, visualization) to support analysis and understanding; and desktop search to address user-controlled repositories to locate and "invoke" documents, data and e-mail.

The OpenBorders Group

The OpenBorders Group is an official global vendor of Microsoft's Open Borders Program.

They deliver a full range of business services to help you accelerate expansion into new international markets. Their network of expert representatives covers US, Asia Pacific, Central Europe, UK, Ireland and Scandinavia.

Founded by Microsoft business professionals

"Microsoft launched The OpenBorders Program three years ago, at the request of the many partners seeking assistance with international expansion. Despite limited resources, the Microsoft executives running this program enabled dozens of Microsoft partners to enter and grow in new markets throughout the US, Europe and Asia.

"Following this success, Microsoft has decided to scale out The Open Borders Program to increase the level of services offered. To this end, the Microsoft executives, who built the original program, have created a partner company, The OpenBorders Group.

"They are joined by three organizations that specialize in international expansion for Microsoft partners. The OpenBorders Group will work closely with Microsoft subsidiaries and business groups around the world to help more partners succeed in their market growth objectives."

Check out the sneak peek of SharePoint 2010

We are sharing a sneak peek of SharePoint 2010 that you can check out @ http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/2010/Sneak_Peek/Pages/default.aspx  (also announced on the SharePoint team blog). Check out the amazing videos  posted, read the “Getting Ready” guidance & take a glance at the frequently asked questions we’ve posted. Tom, Richard & Paul have done a super job walking you through a glimpse of what’s in SharePoint 2010! We will go much deeper & broader at the SharePoint Conference.

Hi all,

Many of you who are using twitter and reading blogs will have heard of Dux Raymond as he's very involved in the SharePoint community over in the States. In August he is over here for a visit and has kindly agreed to come and present at a user group meeting. As he's traveling such a long way we've decided to give him both sessions! (and the abstracts he sent were difficult to choose between! :-) )

Session 1:

7 Ways to Leverage SharePoint for Project Management Success

In this presentation, you acquire the practical knowledge of how SharePoint can address common project management challenges such as inefficient communication among stakeholders, poor document management practices and undefined project collaboration standards that can compromise project success. SharePoint provides a framework that can empower project managers to create a standards-based PMIS.

Session 2:

Best Practices in Gathering Requirements for SharePoint Projects

Poor requirements can be attributed to failed SharePoint implementations. The key to successful SharePoint implementation is properly developing requirements. A lot of people know that this is important, however, only a handful of folks truly understand what it takes to do this right.

The meeting will be held at the Microsoft offices in Victoria. For more details, and to sign up - please visit the following forum thread:
