So what's going to be happening with the Branch Office in Windows Server Codename "Longhorn". To find out more, and I apologies for the somewhat short notice, at 6PM this evening UK time, there's an online chat about what technology is coming in Longhorn.

The chat-room will be live shortly before 6PM (10AM PST) and you can enter by clicking here.

Branch Office Technologies in R2

We IT Forum preparations almost complete and the Windows Server 2003 R2 launch fairly soon, now would be a good time to get up to speed on R2 technologies. There's a series of online chats over the next few months - I'll hold off for the moment for those in december and beyond, but there's a chat on Branch Office R2 Technologies next week. The abstract a link are below.

This chat will focus on the introduction of the new DFS Replication engine. We will discuss the feature set that enables it to efficiently replicate large quantities of data over the WAN. We will discuss mechanisms designed to optimize replication in challenging environments.

How about a chance to ask whatever you want about where Microsoft is taking server operating systems (I can think of a few things....)! Bob Muglia is the Senior Vice President for the Windows Server Division, and is responsible for all versions of Windows Server and Microsoft’s management products. Learn about Bob’s long-term vision for server operating systems, and why he believes that Microsoft is the company that is and will continue to lead the industry in server operating systems and platforms.

However, it will be an invaluable opportunity to pose your questions or concerns direct to the SBS product team. Here's the link to put an entry in your Outlook calendar.

Virtual Server 2005 Cluster Resources, Chats and more

There's an interesting article recently published by Mike Otey which leads you through building a virtualized Windows Server 2003 cluster. You will need to be a paidup member to view unfortunately. Thanks Adam for that link. You can find similar information on RoudyBob.NET's excellent blog and also on microsoft.com. As if that's not enough, there's also this on-demand webcast which I think I've mentioned before [sorry ;-)]. So, no excuses for not having enough information at your fingertips if this is something you want to experiment with.

Mike will also be holding an online chat on 25th May at 5PM UK-Time for the "Straight Story on Virtual Server" which will interesting. He has billed it as "Here's your chance to ask him your questions about Virtual Server and get the 'from the trenches' details on how it works and what problems it can and cannot solve. Michael gives you the straight story without pulling any punches."

Sadly, the timing doesn't work for me due to me presenting at the Technical Roadshow next week in Birmingham.
