I hope that also means it will be available from the Licensing site for those of us (most of us) with Volume Licensing Agreements.

Does this mean we will be able to directly upgrade our SP1 installs?

Anthony - yes, this is the _only_ upgrade path. Windows Server 2003 R2 requires Windows Server 2003 SP1 as the base for upgrade - R2 ships with 2 CDs, the first of which is simply a Windows Server 2003 installation CD with SP1 integrated (slipstreamed) onto the media.

Hi,

I installed Windows 2003 Server R2 and then I installed Exchange 2003 . When I was installing the exchange there was this message coming " the exchange sserver 2003 has compatibility issue with this version of windows" . I ignored and kept on installing then configured it. Exchange 2003 ran fine for like 4 or 5 hours and then it crashed. None of the outlook could find exchange 2003 server. even on the exchange sever the outlook couldn't find exchange server. i tried everything to make it work again but to no avail.

Please tell me if it's true that exchange 2003 cannot work with windows 2003 R2 . what is the wise thing to do.

Please Help.

Amir - I didn't spot what you wrote in the detail above, but others I asked did. Are you saying you have Outlook installed on the server? This may affect the install and certainly isn't supported. If this is a new install, the best way out of this is to flatten the server and start over making sure Outlook isn't on it. Outlook on an Exchange server can end up in a non-responding store. See KB 266418 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;266418) for more info.
Cheers,
John.
