Log Parser Utility

So today's exercise was to blow away Windows Server 2003 R2 on my relatively new Toshiba M3 laptop. I tried, but failed. A month of trouble, particularly with the power saver has simply worn me down. That and combined with 100% CPU when trying to demonstrate anything in a webcast was the final straw. Hence, back to XP as my main desktop for the first time in around 17 months :( Shame as it works perfectly on both big Dell machines.

As is always the case, it's a bit like moving into a new house - nothing is quite where you expect but it will feel like home again very soon. One useful utility I had installed previously was the Log Parser. If you haven't seen it before, take a look at the download link below. Once you get the hang of the syntax it's pretty straightforward - it allows you to perform queries against a number of data sources, for example the Event Log and the Registry to name but a few. Also worth mentioning today as I noticed that it's been updated to version 2.2 a few days ago.
