Windows Task Manager - Alternate View

This is one of those small almost unheard of "things you can do in Windows" tips.
The left image below is a "normal" Windows Task Manager screen shot.
If you double-click anywhere in the graphical part of the tab, it changes appearance to the screen on the right.

You can also do this on the networking tab. Not sure how much mileage you'll make of it, but it may be useful.

Check out Process Explorer v8.61 from http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/utilities.shtml
I think Process Explorer is better alternative than Windows Task Manager.

Yes, sysinternals have loads of great stuff. My favorite still has to be the background info tool though (bginfo)

So why for over 5 years can't the thing remember something as simple as I WANT MY PROCESS LIST TO STAY SORTED BY IMAGE NAME!

I've tried several alternatives to Windows Task Manager.

In my opinion the best is warecase extended task manager
http://www.warecase.com/products.asp

Much behind any other similar software.

I have a question not related to the thread but related to task manager itself.

How can I access the task managers properties inside a windows application written in VB.NET. Specifically I only need to get the username for a process. I have tried using the System.Diagnostics.Process but it does not expose the username property.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Vidit - Sorry, I really don't know the answer to this one. May be worth posting the query up on a newsgroup such as Microsoft.Public.DotNet.Languages.VB.
Hope you find the answer.
Regards,
John.
