great news. It's like an early christmas present. But I have one question: Is it possible to backup hyper-v clients if the hyper-v server and dpm 2007 are running on the same server?

to ZebraMan -- YES, you can now run DPM on the HyperV host itself (or a file server). We call the feature 'Local Datasource Protection' and allows you to install DPM on a production Hyper-V or File Server and protect the VMs and Files/Shares. Ideal for single-server branch offices.
