I'm at a Microsoft Partner office today where the team are talking to customers about Windows Vista.  There was a customer on the phone earlier who said he didn't want to upgrade to Vista because of the following myths:

  • “I can’t manage Exchange Server 2007 using Windows Vista”
    • Not true, you can setup the management tools on Vista with no problems.  Here’s how:
    • To install the Windows Vista operating system prerequisites for the Exchange management tools
      • Download Windows PowerShell for Windows Vista from How to Download Windows PowerShell 1.0.
      • Run the installation package to install Windows PowerShell.
      • From the Start menu, open the Windows Vista Control Panel and then open the Programs and Features applet.
      • In the Tasks area, click Turn Windows features on or off.
      • Expand Internet Information Services, expand Web Management Tools, and then expand IIS 6 Management Compatibility.
      • Select the checkboxes for IIS 6 Management Console and IIS 6 Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibility, and then click OK.
  • “I can’t manage my blackberry devices on Windows Vista”
