Remote Operations Manager - guidance notes

Just a quick link pointing off to Dustin J's blog for the latest in guidance for Remote Operations Manager - ROM. ROM provides the ability for service providers to remotely monitor and manage clients' systems as part of a managed services offering (combining System Center Essentials 2007 and Operations Manager 2007). Plenty of useful info here on deployment and support, so well worth tucking in your favourites as ROM is now RTM and looking at general availability in the not too distant future.... (RH)

I am after the Remote Operation Manager software. We are a certified partner and are licensed to sell SPLA. Microsoft nz are having difficulties in providing the software and contacting the correct people in the US.

The Remote Operations Manager software has hit RTM, but is currently only available on the RDP (Rapid Deployment Program). Nominations for the RDP closed a while ago, so it's unlikely that any more partners will be accepted at this stage. The general availability via SPLA is anticpiated to be October, so keep in touch with the SPLA channel in NZ for details. If you'd like to discuss this in more detail, ask your Partner Account Manager to put you in touch with me (Richard Heaton - PTS Microsft Australia) over email and we can take it from there.

Will ROM only connect to SCE? Any plans to use ROM with SCOM? Some of our clients have either implemented MOM 2005 and we are using SNMP forwarding in those cases. Others are large enough that need to use SCOM. Any solution from MS in this scenario?

My thoughts are that this should be technically possible, but may be unsupported - onviously you'll lose some of the remote management capabilities that you get with SCE (Software and update management).I'll check with the product group and post again when I get more info.
