I'm as hardcore a gamer that my busy family life allows. I managed to get my mitts on one of these babies, and I tell you the SideWinder mouse is probably the most comfortable and intuitive gaming mice that I have ever used. The weights are something that I'm particularly fond of (I loaded mine up to 35g, so it feels nice and solid). Even though some some people I know say it looks big, the form factor of the mouse makes very comfortable for me to use playing Halo 2 or something like that. I'm really digging the switchable DPI as well. I haven't yet tried out the macro feature, but I'm sure when I get into some RTS gaming that this will become one of my thiings to learn how to use. Great job guys on a great PC gaming mouse!

I purchased the Sidewinder mouse only today and was wondering if there was any problems installing the software for it. I have tried everything but the software will not install. I've dld Intellipoint 6.2 which, according to the dld section of Microsoft, is the correct version. Each time when I try to install the software i get a message telling me either my hard drive is full (320gig) don't think so, or an error has occured, DUH,

could this software be for VISTA? cause I'm running XP Pro with all the updates of course. I REALLY like the mouse. I hope I'm not posing this at the wrong place, just couldn't find anywhere else to go in regards to such a new product.

Here's a tip from our software group:

This message is a generic error message which doesn’t help much for troubleshooting. Usually users see this message is because of a bad uninstall of our previous version of software. The first thing I would try is clean up some of the old IntelliPoint installed on the machine. Here are the instructions on how to clean up old driver versions:

After the installer cleanup, try installing 6.2 again. If that doesn't work, please let me know!

Pretty disappointing.. the software won't install to use the Sidewinder mouse. I can use it as a generic mouse, but I bought it to use the macro button :)

It still beats the crap out of what I was using, but I'd like to get my dollar's worth here. Ive tried the installer cleanup.. but it did not work. I have IntelliType 6.1 installed (for an MS keyboard I randomly plugged in) so I uninstalled that using the installer cleanup program. Still, I get that generic error xpac was getting.

I've restarted more times than I care to admit. :(

hi to all... I hope somebody help on my dilemma with my Sidewinder... I bought the sidewinder cause i like the size and the comfortable grip of the mouse and for those 2 programmable buttons on the side (and add to that that its black, i love all my pc gear black). i love the performance i am having with the except for one... the 2 programmable buttons doesnt remember what i programmed it to do... for top part i programmed it to do SHOW DESKTOP, the second one i programmed it to open an application... when i set it and hit apply on the mouse properties... it works. but when i rebooted my pc... the buttons are not working... so i checked the mouse properties, its on the same setting i did and here's funny part... if click on ok... the buttons worked... i dont want to go the properties and hit ok everytime i boot the computer to make the buttons work... any idea why is this happening to my sidewinder... any comments or suggestion is much appreciated.. thanks ^_^

I bought this mouse a few weeks ago, and let me tell you, this thing has been awesome! Except for the part where it basically killed my PC... I haven't tried using it as a generic mouse yet, but about 2 weeks after i installed the software this mouse would freeze my PC about every 40 or so mins. I plugged in my old crappy ps2 mouse and its all working fine again. Anyone know why this mouse would cause my system to 100% lockup? By lockup i mean nothing works, at all.

Oh, and P.S. One of my 1Gig ram sticks has mysteriously been fried... Cool huh?
