Methods to determine whether the system is a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows

I reviewed and studied some feedback for the hot-fix related KB articles from the end user recently. I noticed that there are some users who cannot identify whether he/she is using a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows. Then,... Yes, it is an issue for them since the 64-bit hardware becomes popular gradually. Therefore, in order that the hotfix released can benefit more end users, not only IT professionals, but also normal computer users, I'd like to introduce the System Information tool in this blog.
Some of you may have used this tool. Just type msinfo32.exe (in previous Windows version, you can also enter Winmsd.exe) in the Run box. Then you will get the System Information box. Then in System Summary, review the value for System Type item:
· For 32-bit editions of Windows, the value is x86-based PC;
· For 64-bit editions of Windows, the value is x64-based PC;
Also, the System Information tool collects other system information, such as devices that are installed in your computer, device drivers loaded in your computer, and provides a menu for displaying the associated system topics. You can use the tool to diagnose computer issues. For example, if you are having display issues, you can use the tool to determine what display adapter is installed on your computer and view the status of its drivers.
