The story seems to be straightening itself out, but to clarify... the

re: August 27

Is there any news on whether or not WHS will be released on MSDN and/or Technet?

This blog seems to imply that shops in the USA are slow to pick the product up, while overseas sellers are more on the ball. I refuse to believe that.

There is another reason behind the lack of US companies not having the product, but I don't know the reason....

It would not be difficult at all for small, local computer shops to start offering home servers *today* if the OEM version were available. This would be bad news for HP, Dell, et al since the larger computer companies cannot match the agility of smaller shops. HP is releasing their home server product sometime this Fall (late September?), so I don't expect to see WHS available as an OEM product in the U.S. before then.

On another note, I still can't understand why this will not be on MSDN. I can understand not releasing it right away, but I spent several thousand dollars on a Premier MSDN subscription so that I can develop software for Microsoft's platforms. Sure, shelling out $200 for WHS isn't that big of a deal, but still... Isn't this setting a bad precedent?
