MOSS + PerformancePoint = BI to the masses

The latest news around SharePoint and PerformancePoint is great news for anyone who owns, or is considering, SharePoint.

Based on customer feedback, the scorecard, dashboard and analytical capabilities from Office PerformancePoint Server are being consolidated into Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) Enterprise and rebranded as PerformancePoint Services for SharePoint.

It’s key in this economic climate for businesses to have the information they need at their fingertips in order to understand the health of their business and make decisions accordingly.  And, what better way to access that intelligence than via tools their staff are already familiar with i.e. MOSS, Excel etc.  Plus, the addition of these capabilities into MOSS Enterprise means that businesses can extend this intelligence more broadly than with other more expensive alternatives.

Also, in mid 2009, the PerformancePoint Server 2007 “service pack 3” will be released which will include updates to the current product’s planning module.
