The four and half day PerformancePoint Server 2007 Planning: Implementation Workshop I course walks through setup of a budgeting solution for an enterprise level entity. Company and business scenarios are presented to the students with requirements and budget assumptions, offering a discussion on how to prepare for a Planning implementation. As part of the class deliverables, students will create an application, set up dimensions, models and load data. Profit and Loss budget input forms are built, including sub ledger detail forms such as Human Resources and Revenue modeling. Business rules are defined to further customize the input forms. Students will set up Security and define processes to replicate a real world user experience. SQL Server & PPS Benchmarks

White papers are always good benchmarks of PerformancePoint, however, there are also several case studies of customers with cubes containing billions of rows of data.

The latter is a dashboard sitting on top of an OLAP cube that has over 100 Million records, and there are about 500 new records every second! The new records are processed by SQL Server Integration Services every 180 seconds (that's about 100,000 every 180 seconds) and incrementally added to the cube, so that you are always looking at a cube within 180 seconds of real time.

Today, we are pleased to announce the release of Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007 Service Pack 1!

With this new Service Pack, enhancements have been made to the monitoring, analysing and planning functionality found in PerformancePoint Server to help customers improve decision making. Usability, stability and performance enhancements are key focus areas for PerformancePoint Server SP1. With this Service Pack, customers will be able to take advantage of new workbook options for improved performance of queries, as well as see the effects of changes in planning assignments for better “what-if” analysis.

Customers using strategy maps and KPI’s for monitoring and analytics will see improvements to scorecard and filter usability. Scorecards with negative numbers have improved formatting and are easier to read, while dashboards with filters are now faster to render and provide the ability to link reports directly to KPI’s. There are also improvements to Tabular filters and Time Intelligence Post Formula filters.

In addition, SP1 adds certified support for Windows Server 2008. Support for SQL Server 2008 will be available later this year following the release of SQL Server 2008.
