Microsoft Office Live Workspace Goes to Public Beta

As far as I can see there is only one reason anyone would use Google Apps vs Microsoft Office - Online collaboration.  Well that is now no longer a key differentiator...infact we have now taken it further than what you would normally get from Google and made collaborating on documents online even more real.

Today we announced the availability of Microsoft Office Live Workspace Beta.  On October 1st we announced it and committed in making it publicly available as a beta before the end of the year.  This means that all customers that have signed up for the service including over 12 schools now have full beta access to the service.

To learn more I particularly like the FAQ which covers the service clearly and answers most people's questions.

We also added a forum to the community site that we launched around Office Live Workspace, which allows us to have a better conversation with customers.

The nice thing about Workspaces is that even if you don’t have Office you can still store documents online, preview and comment on them.

Fact is ..you either already own Office or for the price of it get the most advanced productivity suite in the world with online collaboration now free.
