Dell Adamo

My MSFT UK colleague Steve Clayton did a fine review of the new Dell Adamo laptop.

I had a look at this beauty the other day but never got to actually play with it well enough to review it.  The design is tremendous, really challenging the Mac and even the Sony (who I am a huge fan off).  I am hoping my friends at Dell might loan me one to spec out with the new Windows 7 RC :-) but in the meantime you can read what Steve had to say about it.

I am glad companies like Dell are making “sexy” designs and putting real effort in differentiating themselves.  Good stuff DELL!

Lauren the typical PC purchaser?

You might have seen the latest ads by Microsoft showing the value (financial) of a Windows PC vs the Mac.  Infact these series of ads are meant to show the true impact of what you are paying for when purchasing a new PC.

Have a look at the video and read on

So, is Lauren right in buying her HP Pavilion vs a Mac from an economical perspective.  Lets have a look at the specs. :

No kidding she did!  That is $2000 difference to be cool.

My view is that there is nothing cool about being ripped off!

What the future would look like – by Microsoft

Ooooh….I want to be in this future…

Queensland University of Technology goes with Live@Edu

A lot of hard work by our education team on this, but its finally paid off.

http://www.australianit.news.com.au/story/0,24897,25196245-15306,00.html

Live@Edu is an awesome product designed specifically for schools and universities that want to provide free email services to their students and faculty.  It uses Hosted Exchange as the back end but also provides things like Instant Messenger, Spaces and Skydrive.

Other universities have also signed up such as Victoria Uni.  If your in education, give it a go here http://get.liveatedu.com/Education/Connect/

Windows Live Wave 3 – Here now!

I’ve been talking a lot about Windows Live Wave 3 now and have been hanging out for its final release.  The Beta has been running super for me and will be one of the first to run the commercial release.

Here is a slide I have been showing folks about Windows Live Wave 3 and what's in it..its pretty much an all you can eat slide and it easy to understand.

image

The most important message in this slide is “Keep your life in sync”.  Don’t know about you but I have a tone of different things I use online and syncing things like contacts are a HUGE benefit.

Here are three things we want you to know about Windows Live:

· Communicate and share - Window Live is your home base on the web for everything you need to stay connected and up to date with the people you care about.

· Manage your stuff - Windows Live puts everything you want to do in one place and keeps track of your online world so you don’t have to.

· Optimized experiences across your PC, Phone, and the Web - Windows Live allows you to get the most out of your Windows experience, so no matter where you are – work, home, on the road with your phone – Windows Live can help keep your life in sync.

Photosynth comes to Virtual Earth

I've been blogging about Virtual Earth for a while now and I for one think its awesome technology.  I have also blogged about Photosynth which in my opinion is even more awesomeness (is that a word?), anyway...we now have them together.

Can this get any better?...

You can check it out here or if you havent done so already you can download the Photosynth app from here

Microsoft UK go head to head

I like this....why not?  I remember the day when companies would go head to head to win consumers mindshare.  Apple have never been shy of that..(the entire I'm a Mac ads are all about confrontation) so I am up for a bit of biff.

Its great for consumers!
