Bill & Greg's Most Excellent Adventure

Tidbits on Unified Communications for our education customers.
When do logs truncate with CCR?

What if I backup my database from the passive node. How does Exchange know to truncate logs?

The replication service tells the active store there is a backup in progress on the passive copy, and also when it is completed. How does the passive copy header get updated? Header modifications are performed on the active storage groups after backups complete. This initiates the formation of a log record on the active store, which is then shipped through to the passive database  The header is then updated on the passive to be up to date with the active

Keep in mind that the Store must be running on the active to backup the passive, otherwise the headers on both will not be updated

When using replication, truncation cannot be performed after the backups until the following conditions are met:
- It has been replayed into the passive database
- It has been backed up.
