You receive an error message that states that access is denied or that the operating system cannot log on the user. This issue occurs even though you provide the correct user name and the correct password.

By default, Windows-based client computers are configured to use only NTLM version 2 (NTLMv2) authentication when the client computers use challenge/response authentication to authenticate to servers. This default behavior may cause problems when Windows authenticates to third-party products that cannot handle NTLMv2 authentication.

Fix it for me

To fix this problem automatically, click the Fix this problem link. Then, click Run in the File Download dialog box, and following the steps in the wizard.

When you do this, you may experience the following symptoms:

Performance is slow, or the 2007 Office application may stop responding for several minutes.

You are prompted for authentication even though you previously entered your credentials.

You lose session state. TCP/IP can sometimes become damaged or corrupted. If you cannot connect to the Internet and you have tried all other methods to resolve the problem, TCP/IP might be causing it.
Because TCP/IP is a core component of Windows, you cannot remove it. This Fix it addresses the following scenario. You install Adobe Dreamweaver on a Windows Vista-based computer. Additionally, you accept the option to make Dreamweaver the default editor for XML files. In this scenario, Windows Vista Help and Support stops working.

When you try to run Windows Vista Help and Support, you receive the following error message: “Internet Explorer cannot download / from windows. Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.”

This Fix it modifies the Windows Vista registry as described in KB937491.

Set ProtectedStorage to 0 for Configuration Manager Fix it Live!

<img style="border-bottom: 0px;
