Upgrade hangs at 62% when you upgrade to Windows 7 from Windows Vista

clip_image002Upgrade stops responding (hangs) at 62% when you upgrade to Windows 7

This Fix it Solution automates setting a system variable to ignore the IphlpsvcMigPlugin.ddd plug-in on Windows Vista which enables the update to occur successfully from Windows Vista to Windows 7.

Is this safe to apply blanketly before an upgrade? I do not want to start the process to only find that it hangs.

I am helping at an install fest on campus. I want things to go well.

@Brandon

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975253/en-us which cleary states to *NOT* use the "resolution" until you'll find any hints related to a failing IphlpsvcMigPlugin in the setupact.log

Bye,

My computer will not rollback to Vista. It gives the option to rollback but if you click on it it just reboots the same as clicking on Windows 7. I have tried sevearl suggestions from many forums but none have worked. I can download your fix toa flash drive but not sure how I could apply it.
