When you mentioned "it failed," do you mean the Fix it failed to run or it failed to resolve your issue?

If the Fix it failed to run please provide us any error messages or details about the failure.

If the Fix it ran but didn't resolve your issue ensure you having the same issue that is described in Knowledge Base article 949109 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949109)? The Fix it is only designed to resolve the issue described in 949109 so if you are having a different issue the Fix it won't resolve it.

Since you are running Windows Vista please open an administrative command prompt and run a command for us. You may do this by the following steps.

1. Select Start > All Programs > Accessories, right mouse click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

2. In the command prompt type the following command (without the quotes).

"reg query HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\FolderDescriptions /s > %userprofile%\desktop\FolderRename.txt"

The above command will create a text file on your desktop named "FolderRename.txt." Please mail that file to us, at fixit4me@microsoft.com

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. Can you run the following reg query commands and send the files (folderrename.txt and profilelist.txt) to fixit4me@microsoft.com?

1. Select Start > All Programs > Accessories, right mouse click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

2. In the command prompt type the following command (without the quotes).

"reg query HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\FolderDescriptions /s > %userprofile%\desktop\FolderRename.txt"

"reg query “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList” > %userprofile%\desktop\ProfileList.txt"

The FolderRename.txt and ProfileList.txt files will be located on your desktop.

We have re-released this Microsoft Fix it solution to account for additional scenarios that were uncovered after the first Microsoft Fix it was released.

Instead of only writing the SamplePlaylists registry value under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\FolderDescriptions we now:

* Set all the registry values under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\FolderDescriptions

* Set all the registry values under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

* Delete a duplicate RecycleBin entry of HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\FolderDescriptions\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
