At IT Forum last week, the general public got a chance to see DPM 2007 Service Pack 1.

It isn't quite released yet, but still tracking really well for December. So, to give everyone else a taste of what is in SP1 -- check out this video on EDGE.TECHNET.COM. And look for a weekly podcast on Edge, each showing one new SP1 feature between now and the end of the year.

TechNet Radio -- Total Wine success story with System Center

Earlier this week, I sat down with our friends at Total Wine to talk about how they are using System Center.

It's one of the first times that I've gotten to talk about technology and 'wine' instead of 'whine" - so check out the TechNet Radio interview where we covered:

SC Data Protection Manager - replacing previous backup solutions that were unreliable and making backups 'fun'

SC Virtual Machine Manager - as the Total Wine Hyper-V deployment continues rolling out

SC Operations Manager - as the nerve center of all of TW's Microsoft and in-house applications

SC Configuration Manager - for deploying everything from new applications to replacement servers in remote stores

Storage team is bringing 8 sessions and 2 Hands-on Lab to Microsoft TechED IT Pro 2008!

Karandeep Anand, Jason Buffington, Ram Kailasanathan, Drew McDaniel and Edwin Yuen will be hosting the sessions from the Storage side. Clustering and High availability will also be there to talk about their biggest release to date – Clustering features in Windows Server 2008.

Tech Ed will take place between June 9 and 13, and will bring two separated editions for Developers and IT Pros, with 19 different Technical Tracks and 154 interactive theaters.

In this interactive session, we discuss one of the newest features in Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2007— bare metal recovery—using the DPM 2007 System Recovery Tool (SRT). SRT is an additional utility that is included with DPM 2007 for the purposes of restoring a product server’s operating system and application volumes, before restoring the data with DPM 2007. SRT includes powerful single-instance storage for de-duplication of common binaries and component files, and an easy restore mechanism using a bootable CD. We also have experts on hand to discuss other advanced functions within DPM 2007 including PowerShell control and scripting within the data protection system. Let’s talk about what else DPM 2007 can do, above and beyond continuous data protection for Windows application and file servers.
