Within SBS circles it has been know that with the 2003 suite a significant VSS issue occurs while running any disk defragmenter. Although this was addressed by a KB and the mentioned hotfix included in Windows 2003 SP1 the issue persisted. At that time the solution was to format all volumes with 16KB or larger clusters.

Now that you have update the VSS writers so thoroughly will the default 4KB cluster size (on volumes larger than 2 GB) be sufficient or should administrators plan to specify the cluster size? If so is the 16KB cluster size the correct choice or should another size be specified?
