A Pathetic Lot

Hal recently posted a couple of e-mails sent to FS Ideas that he thought were, um, interesting...

So I can't resist sharing my all-time favorite. (OK, I've been in this group for less than two years, but this one is over a year old and really stands out in my mind). As with MD, the name has been abbreviated to protect his identity. And for the record, if I were thinking about what my stock options were worth, I'd be looking at about negative $9.00 per share...

Dear FS,

I know this is only a $60 game, but why can't you guys even get the basic stuff right.

Where is the "Sunshine Skyway Bridge"??????

You know....

the one with the bright, yellow, one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art, suspension cables...

the one you see on The History Channel on their Modern Marvels show...

the one you watch on The Discovery Channel as one of the Top Ten Modern Bridges in the World....

you know.....

the one you had in FS2002.

Maybe your developers should stop thinking about how much their stock options are worth and start working on basic authenticity.

Oh, and thanks...it was a real challenge trying to explain to my 12 year old son, an avid FS player, why his favorite bridge was still missing.

You are a pathetic lot.

Thanks for Nothing
RD

I know you all are not allowed to write responses to such an insulting letter - I'm embarrassed to call that chap a fellow flight simmer.

IF you all were able to write back - I would hope it would be to the tone of the following:

"Sir, thank you for your comments regarding our product. As we have obviously made a mistake in the exclusion of *insert name here*, we have provided the appropriate tools and SDK for construction of *insert name here* - you are more than welcome to construct it yourself."

I honestly wish that many who do not appreciate exactly what it takes to make *insert name here* within the sim take a step back sometimes and understand that you are a team of 50-60 - not the 100's that are assumed - and you are all human. Nothing (well, maybe a few things) is automated in constructing FS. When a product entails making the whole world - things get left out - get over it. Those that don't see their favorite *insert name here* should try and constructing it themselves. Then when they find it to be a challenge - then they'll understand.

You are *not* a pathetic lot - you are a dedicated team of developers who push the limits with every version.

Best regards,

Owen

Everybody who ever released a product gets this kind of feedback. There's nothing that can be done about it. There's always a minor detail that's wrong or missing and there's always somebody who can't restrain his/her emotions when commenting on such issues.
I think the best way is to just ignore these people.

Best regards,
Hans

I think it must be acknowledged that the FS9 bridge situation was not the finest hour. But the 9.1 upgrade was offered to try to rectify that.

You guys should really compile all these hilarious feedback into a book or something!

Well, for me, the box that FS came in looked like this, so I had no cause for complaint! LOL
