Managing your mobile devices

I noticed that System Centre mobile device manager (MDM) is offering a trial download for 120 days. I'd really recommend that you had a look at this software if you're trying to manage mobile devices in your organisation. Specifically in the areas of:
Network Connectivity
MDM can manage Windows Mobile powered devices across various network bandwidths and conditions, ranging from speed-limited cellular networks up to full Wi-Fi connections.
Security Considerations
MDM allows encrypted access to e-mail messages and line-of-business (LOB) applications, AD authenticated access, Device inventory and health inspection, Application approval and blocking by Group Policy and of course Remote device wipe to remove sensitive data from lost, stolen, or compromised devices. The remote wipe will keep on wiping the device over and over again - in case the phone was out of range or off when the initial kill message was sent.
Device Management
In MDM, the device becomes a trusted device and a member of the domain. And you can block a device from enrolling and use Group Policy and software distribution, to make sure that devices follow the required policies and software package updates.
Connectivity
All mobile devices are restricted with regard to battery power and network bandwidth. Make sure that any service that uses a Windows Mobile powered device is aware of the effect that this service will have in a mobile environment. MDM uses several techniques and technologies to address these limitations.
