The Vista showcase lounge

Oh Heck,

Georgina has beaten me to it and has already blogged about our trip into the Vista showcase on campus today.  We were clutching our  coffees in hand looking for a comfy sofa to have a catch up meeting in the main atrium on campus.  We wandered into the Vista showcase lounge - it was empty and we wanted to sit down, have a chat and drink coffee.  Wow what a place, packed with gadgets and gizmos and all available for us to have a play with in there.  So we asked to be shown the home experience.

We had a walk through and demo of the technologies used in the home - I won't go through the list as George has listed them all on her blog.

However, the whole effect was very impressive - I now want a digital photo frame that I can remotely manage and upload photos to.

I'd forgotten that there are wireless models out there now which I can send stuff too remotely - and I'd quite like a new media centre too. This little Sony model is really impressive - and looks fine in the living room.

I was also blown away with the HP home server - I really must get one of those as soon as possible This one had a terabyte of storage space.  (I remember my first server had a 40mb set of disks!).

So I really need to upgrade a few bits and pieces of kit at home - perhaps not the 50" plasma screen, but I'll certainly be looking around for something cool and funky in the new year.  Have you any ideas what I can get for my home that will make people go WOW!

We had quite a productive coffee break actually.  We sorted out plans for TechNet next year, had an idea about a competition that George will be putting out on the Technet newsletter and her facebook group.  Actually I'd like you to join the group here by the way if you're interested in being part of our focus group / steering committee and giving us feedback on how to drive our Technet program, events and general marketing stuff.  It gives you a chance to be our early adopter testers for our wild ideas..

Oh and the sofas in there are really comfy too. A great way to spend half an hour...
