EEC Remodel: A First Look!

Published 12 January 09 01:52 PM | EEC

Hey,

I'm Jeremy and I've been working at the EEC since we opened in back in 2003, so this is a real exciting time for me as I see the facility take on a whole new look. I'll be writing posts about once a week, outlining what's going on and giving you a view into the work.

Since the announcement of the remodel back in October, significant progress has been made in the EEC facility renovation / expansion project in the last month.  After much planning, reviewing, adjusting of plans, approvals, re-approvals, etc - the physical work began in early December.  Since then the crews have been knocking down walls, removing HVAC equipment, X-raying the concrete slabs in the floor, and ‘doing stuff’ in the ceilings and electrical closets.

In this current phase, work crews are:  removing a section of offices and preparing the space to be our new Technical Briefing Center; removing a wall to combine two labs into one larger lab; and preparing our old “Data Center 2” to be a new customer lab.   While there is some overlap with this phase and the next, once this one is done the next phase will concentrate on retrofitting and expanding our primary Data Center.

Here are some photos of the carnage so far:
