De laatste tijd krijg ik veel vragen van partners over de ondersteuning vanuit Microsoft als zij bij een klant aan de gang gaan met de beta van SharePoint 2010. Het leek me dus goed om het 1 en ander toe te lichten.
De publieke beta van SharePoint 2010 is alleen bedoeld ter evaluatie en feedback doeleindes. Tevens zijn er geen plannen om een migratie van de publieke SharePoint 2010 beta naar RTM te ondersteunen. Officieel ondersteund Microsoft überhaupt geen beta producten en we hebben dus ook geen officieel beta support kanaal ter beschikking. Alleen de partners die in een speciaal programma zitten als bijvoorbeeld TAP of LEAP hebben recht op support vanuit de productgroepen (zij zijn ook degene die dergelijke programma’s en dus ook de bijbehorende ondersteuning sponseren).
Uiteraard kunnen we als Partner Technology Advisors best helpen als een partner een probleem heeft bij een klant, maar onze tijd is beperkt, en gebaseerd op “best effort”. De partner blijft altijd zelf verantwoordelijk als hij beta software gaat inzetten bij een klant. Voor overige ondersteuning kan de partner terecht in de beta nieuwsgroepen, blogs en andere community kanalen. Zie ook deze pagina’s:

Microsoft heeft de Social Network Accelerator vrijgegeven. De Social Network Accelerator biedt organisaties de mogelijkheid om conversaties op social netwerk sites te monitoren en te analyseren, En biedt daarnaast real-time status updates met betrekking tot hun Producten en Services. Deze eerste release biedt initieel een integratie met Twitter. Integratie met andere ocial Netwerk sites zullen in verdere releases worden vrijgegeven.

On January 1, 2010, new European Union (EU) regulations for VAT reporting take effect. An new whitepaper describes how Microsoft Dynamics NAV will support the changes to VAT reporting required by the VAT 2010 package.
The VAT 2010 package changes the VAT reporting for cross-border trade of goods and services within the EU. The changes affect business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-customer (B2C) trade. As each EU member state implements these directives, Microsoft Dynamics NAV will be updated to accommodate the legal requirements of that member state. Updates will be published for companies to install by end of December of 2009.

This is important information since the update requires for most companies a minor upgrade on either Dynamics AX 2009, 2009 SP1 or 4 SP2.

You should prepare to install at least two software updates. One includes functionality for services to be included in the EU sales list. This update applies to all EU country/region localizations and is already available for download. The update is included in Rollup 3 for AX 2009 SP1 and AX 2009 RTM and is available as a hotfix for AX 4.0 SP2.
The second update will be country/region-specific functionality containing the changes to EU sales list and/or VAT Declaration reports and files. If you need EU sales lists for multiple countries, you must obtain updates for each country/region. These become available when the local tax authorities publish details for the specific country/region.
