The Upgrade Toolkit for Dynamics NAV 5.0 is available now.

You can download the W1 here, and NL here. For other Country versions, please check the availability here.

For the Changes Doc, known issues and a trainings overview, please read the Release Notes, which can be found here.

The Style Sheet feature in Microsoft DynamicsTM NAV 5.0 has been enhanced with a new tool that allows you to easily and without programming knowledge create and modify style sheets in Microsoft® Office Word.

The release of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 introduced the option to export any form (apart from matrix forms) from Microsoft Dynamics NAV to Microsoft Office® Word and Excel®. By simply clicking a button, Microsoft Dynamics NAV will generate an XML document that works in conjunction with an XML style sheet that passes the requested information to either Word or Excel.

Seven style sheets are included in Microsoft Dynamics NAV. You can read about these in the White Paper ‘Creating XML Style Sheets for Data Export from Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0’. However, if you want to create more style sheets or modify an existing one, you need to have knowledge of XML and C/AL programming in order to add the relevant data elements.

To simplify this process, a style sheet tool has been created that does not require programming knowledge. The first version of this tool will support the export of data to Word, and this means that the only skill required to create additional style sheets is some end-user knowledge of Word.

The Microsoft Dynamics NAV Stylesheet Tool supports integration to Microsoft Word 2003 and Microsoft Word 2007.
It consists of a fob file and a user guide.

There are some questions about the compatability of Dynamics NAV with the new Microsoft Office and Windows products.

Dynamics NAV 5.0 is of course fully compatible with the products. For the 4.0 product line there is an update available, which makes the product compatible. You can find it here

There is no official support for versions 3.70 and lower.

Dear All,

Microsoft Business Solutions Global Technical Support Center (MBS GTSC) is pleased to announce the above mentioned webcast.

OVERVIEW:

In FY06, MBS GTSC started with the transfer of product knowledge to partners using Microsoft Office Live Meeting to hold webcasts.  For FY07, this knowledge transfer will be continued, and a new group of webcasts has been created covering specific functionalities and topics of NAV, AX and CRM as well as Classic technologies.

Microsoft Office Live Meeting is a web-based platform where PowerPoint decks and other applications can be shared with the audience.  Every session will cover a separate, well defined topic and will take a maximum of 120 minutes. These sessions can be followed on the web while listening to the presenter via your computer.  Each session will consist of a training/ comprehension section with questions and answers at the end.

ABOUT THE TOPIC:

This presentation is the third in this series and will be looking at tools & techniques for understanding how SQL Server 2005 is performing and identifying possible bottlenecks. Unlike earlier presentations in the series, this one will not be specific to Dynamics Nav. However, the insights gained will be useful for monitoring and improving performance of any application that uses SQL Server as its data store. The content will cover performance related Dynamic Management Views (DMVs), tools used by Microsoft to analyse customer problems and the new “Performance Dashboard Reports” which can be incorporated into SQL Management Studio since the release of Service Pack 2.

As you may know – Microsoft now has a fully integrated Intelligent Application Gateway solution (IAG 2007) – part of Forefronts Edge Security suite.  This is a PG1 product – providing granular remote access to applications including Dynamics! This gives you and your partners a distinct advantage when positioning a solution offering!

We have a number of TechNet webcasts coming up in the next week that are open to the public. One of these, on February 22nd (18.00 hours CET)  is specifically focused on Microsoft Dynamics. According to readers from Mibuso, CodeGenius was the best download in the year 2006.

The CodeGebius tool brings you C/AL Editor Enhancements, and it works from 2.01 to 4.0. Best thing about it (hey, i'm Dutch) it's free.

Best Wishes for 2007 to all!

2006 came to a slow end regarding this blog. 4.0 sp3 was released, and 5.0 was still months away. Now it’s 2007, and this is the year 5.0 and 5.1 will be released. Expect more posts the coming months then you’ve seen before. I will post all the 5.0 and 5.1 news I can put my hands on.
