Managed Services architecture

The managed services solution uses System Center Operations Manager 2007 and System Center Essentials 2007 to provide managed services to many remote customers.

The service provider would install System Center Operations Manager 2007 in their network operations center (NOC).  System Center Essentials 2007 (SCE) would be installed at each customer location. SCE could be installed on an existing server such as a Small Business Server or domain controller.  The SCE server would be configured to communicate with the Operations Manager 2007 server across the internet, using certificates to mutually authenticate the connection.  Computers at the customer location would be discovered and installed from the SCE server.

The service provider would then be able to monitor and manage computers at each customer.

# re: Managed Services architecture

I work for a medium sized company and I am beta testing System Center Configuration Manager 2007. I saw the posting today of Beta 2 of System Center Essentials.  I am now wondering what SCE won't have that the SCCM will?

Thanks,

A.

Is there going to be any type of remote desktop feature not requiring VPN, ar WAN access to the remote site? Like RDP over SSL, or an RDP Proxy rather?

# re: Managed Services architecture

For this release, we'll provide the capability of using Remote Desktop, but this will require connectivity between the service provider site and the customer's computers.

For the next release, we are looking into the TS Gateway provided by Windows Codename Longhorn Server

Any updates on the MSP offering??? Were an MS Certified Partner and need to get something like this up and running very quickly.  I've been researching other MSP solutions, but really like what I'm seeing in SCE and OP 07 and I'm excited to see these products work together.  Any details on public beta start date and or pricing release dates would be awsome!

Any idea on when SCE with MSP option will be available? Why no blogs on the topic, sounds quit dead!

Hi Jagster,

I'll be blogging more about our MSP option next month!  Thanks for your interest!
