Internet Routing Pandemonium

Here’s an interesting blog post explaining how a single routing error made by a small ISP in Europe caused a world-wide “Internet meltdown” a couple of days ago. Basically a bad routing update was propagated amongst routers across the net, many routers choked on the update and stopped talking to its neighbors. Multiply by thousands across the globe and we have a problem. Read the article for a fascinating explanation of the problem and how fragile our little Internet may be.
