Live Mesh - Imagine the Possibilities
I've recently joined the BETA for Live Mesh, which is a really cool evolution of many ideas around making a user's PC experience richer through consistent and persistent access to their data wherever possible using the Internet as the cloud (aka "mesh") in the middle. It's actually pretty cool and useful, even in the BETA mode. Basically, using my Windows Live ID as the security and identification mechanism, Live Mesh loads some bits on the devices I include (currently just my work notebook and a laptop I use heavily in my home office), and allows me to share meshed folders between them. Also included is remote control, news, etc. Much of this seems to be an progression around things like Windows Live SkyDrive and Windows Remote Assistance and/or Windows Remote Desktop, but what Live Mesh seems to be accomplishing is a higher level of integration and ease-of-use. Even cooler, it will eventually be enabled to work with mobile devices and even Macs.
So far I like what I see.
