Configuration Manager Support Announcements for September 2009

image Window 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 are now supported on ConfigMgr 2007 SP1

System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 now supports the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems for client installation.  Configuration Manager consoles or site system roles, other than branch distribution point, will not be supported on these platforms.

The following software update is required if you have sites configured to operate in native mode, or if you are using the Network Access Protection feature:

· KB974236- Update rollup for System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 to add support for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 clients

The following software update is recommended to add Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 to the Supported Platforms list:

· KB974236- Update rollup for System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 to add support for Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 clients

Support for System Center Configuration Manager R2 features such as the Virtual Applications will not be announced for Windows 7 clients until after the Microsoft Virtual Applications 4.5 Service Pack 1 release.

To deploy software updates using Software Update Management to Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 clients will require that you install WSUS 3.0 SP2 on your Software Update Point.

WSUS 3.0 SP2 is supported on ConfigMgr 2007 SP1

System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 now supports installing Windows Update Services 3.0 Service Pack 2 on the Software Update Points site-server role.  This upgrade is required if you will be deploying software updates to Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 clients.

No additional software updates are required.

App-V 4.5 SP1 is supported on ConfigMgr 2007 R2

System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 now supports the Microsoft Application Virtualization 4.5 SP1 desktop and terminal services client. This update is required to support Windows 7 clients.

No additional software updates are required.
