Lots of fun... (Day 4)
I did not attend any sessions today. Well, that is not completely true, I attended one…mine ! It was a great session. I knew there was a community here that was interested in transitions (from discussions this week) but it was great to see people showing up early and the room fill up.
The session was a lot of fun and very interactive thanks to the audience. I originally had about 35 slides, but after looking at them for the 200th time and figuring that by Thursday most attendees would have gone through about 500 slides I said ‘Screw it !’ and hid all my slides. When the session started I asked the audience to set the agenda and drive the areas of discussion. They did great, and really drove the entire session with some excellent questions. After the session I reviewed my old slides and realized that we covered the SAME content just it was much more interesting and fun for me, and hopefully for everyone there.
Some Thoughts:
1. Lots going on; This session (to me) underlined just how active this space is (from all sides). From one side we (Microsoft) constantly coming out with new products, transition tools (like the connector, migration wizard, application transporter, application analyzer, etc…) and, guidance (see http://www.microsoft.com/technet/move). On the other side there is a great and growing community of partners, consultants and an ever increasing set of customers. It was just great to see this community in this session and to review (even at just a high level) the tools that we are doing to make transitions easier.
2. And more to do: This session also underscored the importance of the work ahead for us. There is a tremendous interest in this space, we were given some great specific feedback in this session about new features we could do, and the integration with the 2007 product lines. This next year is going to be busy !
If you attended the session, comment here on your thoughts and questions.

>> Oh, also found a great restaurant in North End, Boston ‘L'Osteria’ after deciding to skip out of the food at Fenway Park where we had the Tech-Ed party.
