Downtime......weak postage.....fun...

I guess I did those a little out of order. Should have started with the "weak postage" first since that is what this blog post is. No cool tech info to talk about....No interesting tidbits of news that I think may not be posted anywhere else

Revenge of the Nerd Dinners....

Tonight I am going to my first Nerd Dinner . My wife would argue that she has been living Nerd Dinners for the past 8 years, but that is a story for another time. Scott Hanselman organized this for tonight over at the Food Court at the Crossroads Bellevue

The Darkness....

Not that I should have to point this out, but I have not been very active since my screencast posting on FTP(S) about a month ago. If you read my post on June 16th you will get a feel for why. It has been and continues to be a busy time for me. Add in

How to reach me....

You will notice on the left side of my blog, I now have links to a variety of services I frequent. I am paying particular attention to Friend Feed these days because it seems to track comments and conversations better. I can't seem to find a way to link

No TV service for a year.....

I canceled my cable TV service today. Later this afternoon I am going to drop off the HD DVR and since I have consistently overpaid my bill for the last year they actually owe me money when all is said and done. People that know me real well might think

What I am working on....

Normally this time of year is slow and I enjoy the downtime by doing summery stuff. I will still get that fun and leisure in, but I am working on a few projects right now. I am writing a session for our Q1 content tentatively called "Why Vista?".

Time to create a Guitar Hero tag....

I just ran across an article announcing Guitar Hero World Tour . I am guessing this is actually Guitar Hero 4 since they talk about the addition of the drum kit and vocals. I think the battle of the band feature sounds cool though I would like to see

Guitar Hero 4....

I am a BIG Guitar Hero fan. I have been playing about a year now ever since I stumbled onto the game at a Microsoft training seminar. I started with Guitar Hero 2 for the XBox 360. It took me about 6 months to get through the whole game on Expert. I never

Rebuilding the home network....

I have spoken about my home network at a  few presentations and during the breaks there have been plenty of "oh yeah!?!?! well I have....." conversations. I think some of the most interesting conversations are around how we name our machines

Second Life and a Windows 2008 Launch....

Not everyone has been able to make it to one of our Live Windows 2008 Launch events. So a small group of us here at Microsoft are heading into Second Life world to deliver our launch content. We will be "in world" on April 26th to deliver our

Tweet(le) Dee and Tweet(le) Dum...

Forgive me Twitter for I have been silent. It has been 9 months since my last Tweet... I decided to logon to Twitter to give it another shot and noticed my last message was sent in July of last year. I also only sent about 4 msgs prior to that and only

Excuse me....I just tweeted....

Way back in January, I asked my readers to explain to me why I should be on Facebook or Twitter. You can still hear the crickets on that one..... I am back again asking the same question but I am also going to throw in a few other services - Quechup,

Thank you Seattle!

Great turnout in Seattle yesterday! The weather stayed in check and we had a great event. Great questions from the crowd during the sessions and breaks too. I have had a few people email me questions as well. Feel free to let me know what I  can

Why my email alias is missing an "s"....

chrisavi@microsoft.com -- That has been my email alias at Microsoft for over 10 years now. You would think that I could have had chrisavis@ or cavis@. But nooooooo. They had to drop the "s" and make me sound like a video file. I don't know for

By your frakkin' command....

Many, many moons ago, when life in the late 70's was simple, disco sucked (it still does, btw....), Apple Computers was a computer company, and people were worried about global cooling , I started watching a science fiction TV series about robots with
