Brief Description
This package addresses issues with the DPMRA Service, a missing Calculate link option when creating a protection group, and an error message when configuring secondary protection. It also enables protection of data local to the DPM server.
Overview
The Hotfix Rollup Package for DPM 2007 (KB954641) addresses four key issues. This package should solve a problem with the DPMRA service on the DPM Server occasionally crashing. When creating a protection group, a missing calculate link option in the Data Size column has been added. This hotfix package also addresses an error message when configuring secondary protection for an item on a secondary DPM server. Protection of data local to the DPM Server is also now enabled.
This Data Protection Manager Update Package consists of three separate updates. Note: Depending on your configuration, some updates may not apply. Please see “Installation Instructions” for details.
Feature Bullet Summary:
Issues Fixed:
- The DPMRA service on the DPM Server occasionally crashes, marking replicas as inconsistent (in this case the system event log may contain entries stating that the DPMRA service terminated unexpectedly)
- Missing calculate link option in the Data Size column when creating a protection group and selecting a volume to protect (when directories are deselected under that volume)
- When configuring secondary protection for an item on a secondary DPM server, some cases an error comes up when stating “This item is not protectable because some prerequisite software is missing. Ensure that all prerequisite software is installed and then protect this item”, even if the item is already successfully protected on the primary DPM Server.
- Inability to protect data local to the DPM server

MTV Networks addressed collaboration issues by standardizing on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, on which the company deployed a new intranet portal, a Viacom corporate portal, and multiple Internet sites.
Overview
As an entertainment company, MTV Networks must continually work to ensure that its brands remain strong, vibrant, and deeply connected to the audiences they serve. The company's previous portal infrastructure wasn't helping people share information and ideas. End users could not publish their own content, collaborate effectively, nor find the information they needed. MTV Networks addressed those issues by standardizing on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, on which the company deployed a new intranet portal, a Viacom corporate portal, and multiple Internet sites. Self-service content publishing is helping groups across the company communicate better, while rich collaboration and search features enable people to find and share information.

Starting with Exchange 2007, neither the Messaging API (MAPI) client libraries nor CDO 1.2.1 are provided as a part of the base product installation. As a result, there is functionality missing that many applications depend on. Microsoft Exchange MAPI and CDO 1.2.1 provide access to these APIs
Overview
The Messaging API is a COM-like API that provides access to the contents of messaging stores. CDO 1.2.1 (Collaboration Data Objects, version 1.2.1) is a package providing access to Outlook-compatible objects through a COM-based API. Using either CDO or MAPI, a program can connect to a MAPI store, and then perform operations against that store. Starting with Exchange 2007, Microsoft will distribute the MAPI client libraries and CDO 1.2.1 as a Web download.

Brief Description
Microsoft® Visual Studio Team System 2008 Database Edition GDR August CTP
Microsoft® Visual Studio Team System 2008 Database Edition GDR implements support for SQL Server 2008.
Overview
In addition to providing support for SQL Server 2008 database projects, this release incorporates many previously released Power Tools as well as several new features. The new features include distinct Build and Deploy phases, Static Code Analysis and improved integration with SQL CLR projects.
Database Edition no longer requires a Design Database. Therefore, it is no longer necessary to install an instance of SQL Express or SQL Server prior to using Database Edition.
SQL Server Support
- SQL Server 2008
- All new data types:
- Intrinsic (date, datetime2, datetimeoffset, time)
- Built-in SQL CLR types (geography, geometry, hierarchyid)
- New DML
- Merge, table parameters, …
- SQL Server Configuration Options
- Server option settings will be verified prior to deployment or set during deployment
Additional 1st Class Object Type Support - Rules, defaults, Asymmetric keys, symmetric keys, certificates, …
Projects
- Server Projects
- Server objects and option settings may be implemented in a separate Server Project
- This enables a team to define a standard a configuration for their SQL servers and reference it from their Database Projects
- Partial projects
- Allowing code sharing between projects by including files from a different project, where the code is included as-is from the originating project and the source code control ownership remains with the originating project
- This enables code reuse and single sourcing while having a single deployment unit
- Composite projects
- References to other database projects or .dbschema files that contribute to the same deployment unit.
- This enables the separation of development roles and responsibilities and composition of Databases using multiple projects.
Single sourcing of external artifacts
- SQL-CLR references allow the user to create a reference to a SQL-CLR project or SQL-CLR assembly. This automatically becomes an ASSEMBLY type in the Database Project
Build and Deploy
- The Build process now produces a separate portable schema output that is fed in to a redistributable deployment engine
- A redistributable deployment engine. For example, to implement a setup application that deploys the Database Project.
Refactoring
- Preservation of Intent
- Enables the deployment of refactoring changes as intended by the user (renames are deployed as renames not as drop/add statements for example)
New Refactoring Operations
- Wildcard Expansion
- Move Schema
- Fully Qualify
- Extensibility point which enables the ability to develop and deploy custom refactoring types and targets
Schema Compare
- Now supports comparing Projects, Databases or dbschema files in any combination. For example, Project to Project, which has not been possible until now.
- Object Type Filtering
- Additional ignore filtering options
T-SQL Static Code Analysis
- Including the ability to develop and deploy custom rules
Dependency Viewer
- View the dependency relationship between objects in your schema
Unit testing
- Supports execution with other ADO.NET providers
Data Generation
- Design-time enhancements
- Smaller .dgen file
- Support for undo/redo
- Foreign key replacement
- Separation of population status into new display window
- Runtime enhancements
- By default uses SqlBulkCopy to populate target tables
- Capability to register different outputs for generated data – i.e. generate to Excel or to file so you can use BCP to load
- By registering a custom output we have the capability to execute scripts at different points during data generation (i.e. before start/after completion or before/after a table
Extensibility
- Data Generators
- Statistical Data Distribution
- Test Conditions
- Static Code Analysis Rules
- Refactoring Types
- Refactoring Target

Brief Description
These guides and tool provide additional information for Service Providers to plan and deploy Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0.
Overview
Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0: Planning and Deployment Guidance for Service Providers contains the following documentations and tool:
1. Deployment Walkthrough Guide for Service Providers
2. Planning Guide for Service Providers
3. Development Guide for Service Providers
4. Microsoft Software License Terms
5. Deployment Configuration Tool
This guidance provides additional information for Service Providers who are interested in hosting Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 in their data center, or for enterprise customers who are interested in leveraging Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 multi-tenant architecture in their IT infrastructure. The documentation walks you through the planning process, provides sizing and architectural guidance, and shows you how to deploy Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 in a data center that can be accessed over the Internet by any CRM clients. It covers the topics about how to leverage the Deployment SDK to automate the creation and provisioning of organizations and users within the multi-tenant Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 deployment.
For general planning and deployment guidance, see the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Implementation Guide (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=104413).
Important Supplemental Information
The following sections provide additional information that you must consider when you install and configure Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0.
Dynamics CRM Email Router in a lab or test environment
In a lab or test environment, it is common practice to consolidate server roles. The Microsoft Dynamics CRM E-mail Router inbound mail processing will not function if installed on a Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server with combined Client Access Server (CAS) and Mailbox server roles on the same machine. It is recommended that you install Microsoft Exchange 2007 CAS Server on a dedicated server.
Microsoft Dynamics CRM sign-in form
In a lab or test environment, it is common practice to place servers in a flat network topology. If Internet Explorer is run on a machine in the same network as the Microsoft Dynamics CRM environment, the user will be presented with a Windows authentication dialog box instead of being directed to the sign-in form. To work around this, the subnet mask value of the ifdInternalNetworkAddress registry key will need to be updated to the value 255.255.255.255.
Secure Sockets Layer configuration
The Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate must be installed and configured before you access the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Web site. To display the Microsoft Dynamics CRM sign-in form, the organization name is read from the SSL certificate name.
Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server Configuration setup file
The deployment process described in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Deployment Guide for Service Providers makes use of an XML configuration file to provide Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server setup with additional information that is required to complete the installation successfully. The <sdkrootdomain> and <webapplicationrootdomain> elements in the XML configuration file should be provided with values of the fully qualified domain name of the Service Provider. Example values for a service provider named Consolidatedmessenger.com may look like the following:
<sdkrootdomain>service.consolidatedmessenger.com<sdkrootdomain>
<webapplicationrootdomain>service.consolidatedmessenger.com<webapplicationrootdomain>

Brief Description
This ADFS Step-by-Step Guide walks you through the set up of a test lab for ADFS and Shibboleth interoperability.
Overview
Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) and Shibboleth are two federation technologies that allow web browser users in one organization to access web-based applications in another. Shibboleth is open source software developed by Internet2, a US-based advanced networking consortium, and ADFS is a component of Microsoft’s Windows Server 2003 R2 and Windows Server 2008 systems.
This step-by-step guide walks you through how to configure the federation relationships between Microsoft and Internet2 technologies in a test lab environment. This guide assumes an already existing set of ADFS machines and then describes, in detail, the process to install and configure Shibboleth to work as both an Identity Provider (IdP) to an ADFS FS-R (resource federation server) and as a Service Provider (SP) to an ADFS FS-A (account federation server).

SLP Services tutorial and demonstration application
Overview
The purpose of the tutorial is to help enable potential customers and new customers of the Microsoft® Software Licensing and Protection Services (SLP Services) software to become familiar with its capabilities, such as code protection, flexible licensing, and copy protection.
This step-by-step tutorial offers hands-on experience with the service and its tools and will be particularly useful for a developer, software architect, or product manager who wants to evaluate software strengths and ease-of-use for various SLP Services scenarios. It is not the intent of this document to replace the need for deeper documentation, including API documentation, User Guides, etc.
To complete the tutorial, the user is required to have an SLP Services evaluation or product key. In addition, the tutorial requires usage of SLP Code Protector and a medical image system sample application. The Introduction section of the tutorial contains information about obtaining a key, as well as instructions for how to obtain SLP Code Protector.
The MedicalDemo.ZIP file contains a sample software application, Contoso Ltd. medical image system, that was created to be used in conjunction with the SLP Services Tutorial. This medical image system application stores and allows viewing and editing of patient x-ray and MRI images. During the course of the SLP Services Tutorial you will use the code and copy protection capabilities of SLP Services to protect the sample application files against reverse engineering, and to create several license models. The coding in this application does NOT follow Microsoft coding guidelines.
