Microsoft Forefront - The new brand for our business security products

The new Microsoft Forefront family of business security products helps provide greater protection and control over the security of your network infrastructure. Forefront’s products easily integrate with each other, with your IT infrastructure, and can be supplemented through interoperable third-party solutions, enabling end-to-end, defense-in-depth security solutions. Antigen E-Mail Security Products released

This week we announced the release of Microsoft Antigen e-mail security products — including Antigen for Exchange, Antigen for SMTP Gateways, Antigen Spam Manager and Antigen Enterprise Manager. The products will be available to you by July 1, 2006.

Microsoft Antigen e-mail security products use multiple scan engines to help provide comprehensive protection from viruses, spam and other security threats. In addition to scan engines from industry-leading security companies AhnLab Inc., Authentium Inc., CA Inc., Kaspersky Lab, MailFilters.com Inc., Norman Data Defense Systems Inc., Sophos Plc and VirusBuster Ltd., all Microsoft Antigen e-mail security products now include the new Microsoft anti-virus engine.

Security and critical updates available on ISO-9660 CD image files

We will now release ISO-9660 CD image files that contain all the security and critical updates that are released on the Microsoft Windows Update Web site. The ISO image files are released at the same time as security and critical updates are released on the Windows Update Web site.

With the ISO images administrators can donwload multiple updates in all languages at the same time.

The first ISO-9660 image was released on 10 January 2006 to support the January 2006 Microsoft Security Bulletin Release. For more information on the January 2006 Security and Critical Releases ISO Image, please see the following Knowledge Base article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913086

Microsoft Windows Platform Products Awarded Common Criteria EAL 4 Certification

Several of our Windows Platform Products have received Common Criteria certification of 4+. Issued by the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP), CC certification is an international standard for ensuring that IT products conform to stringent security requirements.

The following products have earned EAL 4 Augmented with ALC_FLR.3 certification from NIAP:

Steve Ballmer details Microsoft's Security Strategy

Today in Munich, Germany, Steve Ballmer, our chief executive officer, and Mike Nash, corporate vice president of the Security Technology Unit, outlined Microsoft’s companywide strategy and product road map for helping secure the breadth of our customers from home PC users to businesses of all sizes. As part of its comprehensive security strategy, which focuses on a defense-in-depth approach, Ballmer announced Microsoft’s plans to release Microsoft Client Protection, a solution to help protect business desktops, laptops and file servers from current and emerging malware threats. In addition, the company announced the creation of the SecureIT Alliance, which will further enable participating security partners to efficiently integrate their solutions with our platform to build new security features and products for the benefit of their common customers.
