Leggett & Platt recently showed the StarryNight sleep technology bed at CES. This next generation bed boasts features like an iPod docking station, dual zone temperature control ranging from 68 to 117 F, and optional stereo/video components to make even "Mad Mike" smile (http://www.cmimadmike.com). In addition to new user-controlled gadgets in the bed, the bed's software will also have the ability to learn and monitor your sleep patterns in order to provide suggestions on getting a better night's rest such as lowering the bed temperature by 2 degrees to decrease restlessness. Similarly, if snoring or irregular breathing patterns are detected using sensors (not microphones) in the bed, the bed's headboard will elevate 7 degrees to open airways. If snoring does not cease, the bed will raise an additional 7 degrees until snoring has ceased.

Does all of this sound over the top? Sure, I thought so. That is, until realizing that the 3rd most common cause for divorce in the US is snoring and approx. 20% of all car accidents are due to sleeplessness.
