Here We Go Again - Getting Ready to Turn the Clock Back
Was there anyone that enjoyed the early time change this past March from standard to daylight savings time? While some IT departments got through it unscathed, others ended up with issues especially if the proper patching wasn't applied. I don't think anyone enjoyed having to plan for it and update all their server and client machines. The Bad News...the November 4 "fall back" date is coming up soon. The Good News...if you were diligent in your patching the first time around, there should be little to nothing for you to do.
The Microsoft site will be updated with any new information regularly, so that's a good place to start if you have any concerns. There you will find a full list of products affected and what updates are available. Below are a list of key dates for this fall as well as a list of resource links.
Key Dates:
- September 30th, 2007 – The New Zealand DST time change
- October 28th, 2007 – DST “Fall Back” time change for the US, much of Canada and impacted territories (under pre DST-2007 rules) observing DST
- November 4th, 2007 – The new DST “Fall Back” time change for the areas in the US and Canada observing DST.
