PDC Announcements - Office Web Apps, Azure, Windows 7 and More ...
Wow - what a week! Earlier this week we made a number of significant announcements at the Professional Developers Conference (PDC).
These announcements included Office Web applications, which are light-weight versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote that are designed to be accessed through a browser. Office Web applications will be part of the next version of Office and will enable people to view, edit, and share information and collaborate on documents on the desktop, the phone, and in a Web browser in a way that is consistent and familiar.
We also had significant news on Azure (our cloud computing platform), Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 and our overall Software + Services strategy, including our Online Services.
