I would say "Yes Lord Damir" regarding the Knights part but apparently your suit is in retirement... :)

I'm getting up EXTRA early to beat the snow tomorrow. It's a mess over here in Oshawa. Nobody gave OUT city council salt or chains...

But they did give us these nifty flashlights to carry about to see how much snow got buried inside the Wheel Wells...

You know? I'll be Santa could REALLY benefit from Unified Communications. He's probably got the oldest production shop on the planet; and truly covers a global Marketplace.

*sniff sniff*

I smell a funny coming on...

re: Unified Communications Launch Tour Wraps Up in Toronto

HEY! I almost missed that! I knew SBS 2008 would be Exchange 2007 but "Full Unified".

Did somebody just let the cat out of the bag?

Does the kitty have fangs in the form Unified Messaging???

*MEOW!*

re: Unified Communications Launch Tour Wraps Up in Toronto

Sean just to clarify and not get your hopes too high up here's a bit more explanation.

When the next version of SBS ships, it will include Exchange 2007. If you install an instance of Office Communications Server 2007 you will have all the pieces you need to created a Unified Communications environment. OCS is not part of the next version of SBS, but can work with it today and in the future.

Ahhh.... It's Christmas time. 'Tis the Season to get my hopes up, even if just for fun.

re: Unified Communications Launch Tour Wraps Up in Toronto

I was at the Unified Communications product launch at the Metro Toronto Convention Center in Toronto, ON, earlier today and I got copies of Office Communications Server 2007 Std. and Office Communicator 2007 client at the end of the event.

Can I use these software in a production environment as opposed to just for development and testing? Are these softare time-bombed?

Thanks.

re: Unified Communications Launch Tour Wraps Up in Toronto

Is it possible to authenticate Office Communicator device users against Active Directory? I was at the product launch earlier today and it did not look like there was a way for these devices to capture something like a password from the user. If there's no way to authenticate, how can you trust these users on your network?

Thanks.

re: Unified Communications Launch Tour Wraps Up in Toronto

Jacob, to answer your questions:

1. The software provided is to be used for evaluation and testing purposes and is not supported in a production environment. The software is not time-bombed.

2. Office Communicator Phone Edition devices authenticate against Active Directory through the edge servers, as does Communicator Mobile and Office Communicator when you are not connected to the corporate network. Active Directory is one of the key requirements for Office Communications Server 2007.

Hope this helps.....Damir
