Our team has grown!

I would like to take a minute of your time and introduce myself, Rodney Buike, as the newest member of the IT Pro Advisor team at Microsoft Canada.  Before joining Microsoft Canada I worked in a number of positions ranging from network technician, system engineer, consultant and author.  I am originally from Winnipeg Manitoba, but have recently relocated to Mississauga in order to take this position with Microsoft.  I am probably best known as the lazy admin from http://thelazyadmin.com, a website focusing on Windows infrastructure tips and tutorials but I also write for http://msexchange.org and perform technical reviews for some of the top technical publishers including O’Reilly and Syngress.

In the past I have presented on a variety of topics including Exchange 2003, ISA 2004, and Microsoft virtualization technologies for WITPro, the Winnipeg IT Pro user community, and most recently at EnergizeIT ’06.  I served on the executive of WITPro during its first year and strive to build a strong relationship with all Canadian user groups, MVPs and IT Pro community members.

I am very passionate about the IT Pro community and have been since I entered this industry. It still amazes me that so many IT pros are willing to help each other out.  I am still a sysadmin at heart, although I am enjoying being a standard end user at Microsoft now, and have felt the same pains the rest of the IT Pro community does. With the upcoming launch of Vista and Office System 2007, Exchange 2007, the recent release of ISA 2006 and Longhorn Server and Windows Server Virtualization not too far off into the future it is an exciting time to be an IT Pro!  As we release new products and technologies I am excited to get out on the road and meet you all.  I hope to see you on the upcoming IO Tour ’06, or at the accompanying User Group tour.  I will be in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver and my old stomping grounds Winnipeg, before wrapping up in Toronto.

You can find out more about me on my blog and if you haven’t registered already, find out more about the IO Tour ’06 and the User group tour here.
