Microsoft Team Blogs OPML Files

By popular request please find below a collection of OPML files for download*.   This directory was last updated on the 28th October 2008.

OPML files can be used to import the Microsoft team blog RSS feeds (Really Simple Syndication) including BlogMS into your favourite news reader or feed aggregator.

For example an OPML file can be imported** into Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 and Internet Explorer 7 and above. If your news reader supports folder creation - a folder will be created for each category when you import the file.

WARNING: Please be-aware that loading ALL newsfeeds is likely to result in a large amount of data in your mailbox or newsreader.   My news reader has 124MB of data for three months of blog entries, that is 40MB a month.   If you don't want to manage this - I recommend that you subscribe to the BlogMS RSS Feed where a summary will be posted each week.

The OPML files can be found in the attached ZIP file which you will need to extract:

  • There is one OPML with the filename "BlogMS Directory dd-mm-yy (All Categories)".   This file contains ALL feeds in the directory.
  • You will also find OPML files for each category so you can selectively import the feeds of interest.

* The OPML file uses the recognised file format for RSS feed aggregation.   The file is however unsupported by Microsoft and should be used at your own risk.    If it does not work in your news reader or aggregator please contact the software provider for support.

** This OPML file was imported into Internet Explorer 8 and the feeds were all imported into folders.  With Outlook 2007 SP1 the feeds were all imported but not into folders.   Outlook does not currently support automatic folder creation however you can manually add folders and categorize as you need.
