BillCan's Place

Life at Microsoft
In New York City

After not travelling once in 1.5 years at my previous job, I am on the road at customer meetings for two days in New York.  I like being in New York, but I don't like travelling there because of the 3 hour time difference.  Also, I flew into Newark, and had a 1.5 hour Supershuttle odyssey to get to my hotel in the Time Square area.

I'm writing this posting from MS' midtown Manhattan location located very close to Rockefeller Plaza.  It is a pretty nice location, although it is really just a place to meet customers, I don't get the impression that there are lots of MS folks working here.  Perhaps they are on different floors.

One of the benefits of being in NYC (and on expense account) is the dining.  I'll have to hit Zagat and find a good place to eat tonight (that is reasonably priced, of course!).

If you are in midtown Manhattan, I would suggest one of the Korean places on 32nd street between 5th and 6th avenues. If you don't speak Korean, then they're all pretty good. Since you're on an expense account, I would suggest a Korean BBQ at "Kum Gang San", which is right near 32nd and Broadway.

Off of Times Square is also a restaurant, Dervish, that has good Turkish food. A few blocks north, in the Wellington hotel, is Molyvos, which is excellent Greek food. For fancy Mexican food, Rosa Mexicana is excellent, and has two midtown locations, one near Columbus circle, and one five or six blocks further west.
