COMNET’10 – Conference on Information & Communication Technology organized by Usman Institute of Technology

April 16th & 7th 2010

Usman Institute of Technology, Karachi organized a two day conference on Information & Communication Technology. The event was organized and managed by students of the university and speakers from Academia and Industry were invited to share their thoughts on various topics.

Event was attended by students of various universities and professionals from the industry. Overall it was a well organized event and will help to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

A panel discussion was also organized on the topic of “Academia and Industry Liaison” and panelists discussed on various areas to focus on to improve the collaboration between industry and academia. Academia believes that industry needs to come forward to support students and faculty and provide more opportunities for development e.g. internships, projects etc. Whereas Industry panelists were of the view the Academia needs to enhance their curriculum and make it more up to date with industry trends. It was also suggested that faculty and students should visit industry more frequently in small groups to keep them up to date and build a deeper relationship.
