 &lt;p&gt;Over the weekend, my co-workers were discussing about Internet Explorer (IE) related crashes they were seeing. &lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;I spent a few years helping Premier customers get IE deployed and solve their deployment problems.&amp;#160; In addition to troubleshooting IE group policies and crashes/hangs/high cpu’s/memory leaks/connectivity issues.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;With that said, it’s nice to have a guide and two Fix It’s available for anyone experiencing issues with IE:&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/p&gt; &lt;/blockquote&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Data analysis:&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;blockquote&gt;   &lt;p&gt;P1 provides the network trace.&amp;#160; And that is it.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/blockquote&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Issue:&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;blockquote&gt;   &lt;p&gt;I don't know what IP address that they got.&amp;#160; ipv4.address==172.x.x.x OR ipv6.address==fe80::x:x:x&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p&gt;What was the timeframe of the 60 seconds that was delayed?&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p&gt;Filtering the network trace.&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p&gt;The first packet with those addresses are:     &lt;br /&gt;10:31:17 a.m.      &lt;br /&gt;10:43:18 a.m.&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p&gt;Ok, that is 12 minutes with over 90,000 packets.     &lt;br /&gt;Talk about finding a needle in the haystack.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/blockquote&gt;  &lt;p&gt;The moral of the story is, at a minimum, gather the following data when troubleshooting a network related issue:&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;blockquote&gt;   &lt;p&gt;IPv4 address:&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p&gt;IPv6 address:&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p&gt;Time (HH:MM:SS):&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p&gt;Ipv4 address of target:&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p&gt;Ipv6 address of target:&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p&gt;Application that is having the problem, and it’s Process ID (PID) from Task Manager:&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p&gt;Network share name that is having the problem:&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p&gt;Website name (if troubleshooting a website/webpage related problem):&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p&gt;Document name (.doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, etc…):&lt;/p&gt; In order to install these products, you would have to go thru a change control process.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Starting with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, network capture has been built-in and native to the Windows O.S.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;WARNING:&amp;#160; In Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, you could run into:&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;blockquote&gt;   &lt;p&gt;2582260 &amp;quot;0x0000000A&amp;quot; Stop error when you perform ETW tracing on the Afd.sys driver in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2      &lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://support.microsoft.com/?id=2582260"&gt;http://support.microsoft.com/?id=2582260&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/blockquote&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Please make sure to install the hotfix above before you proceed.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Start, CMD (Run as admin)&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;blockquote&gt;   &lt;p&gt;Type “Netsh trace start scenario=NetConnection capture=yes report=yes persistent=no maxsize=1024 correlation=yes traceFile=C:\Logs\NetTrace.etl” without the quotation marks and then press Enter.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/blockquote&gt;  &lt;blockquote&gt;   &lt;p&gt;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160; Note:&amp;#160; Details of all the options are available in the links to more information.&lt;/p&gt;    &lt;p&gt;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160;&amp;#160; Note 2:&amp;#160; You always want to take network traces from both sides (sending and receiving).&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/blockquote&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Reproduce the issue.&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;Open a second CMD (Run as admin)&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;p&gt;When you have the repro, to make the network trace with a ‘marker’ that you are done.    &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;blockquote&gt;   &lt;p&gt;Type “ping 127.0.0.1” without the quotation marks and then press Enter.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/blockquote&gt;  &lt;p&gt;To stop the network capture&lt;/p&gt;  &lt;blockquote&gt;   &lt;p&gt;Type “netsh trace stop” without the quotation marks and then press Enter.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;/blockquote&gt;
