Not exactly thrilled with the install. Before I can run the install it checks for a gig of free space on the C drive. I'm not even going to install this update there, but it still checks.

If I'm lucky I'll have space cleared for the update today.

My backup would not complete with this same error:

ExecuteQuery: Failed to execute SQL query BACKUP DATABASE SUSDB to DISK=N'D:\WSUS\SUSDB.bak' (Error 0x80040E14)

but the issue was not permissions. Disk quotas was turned on and Network Service was limited to 3gb. The WSUS database was over 5gb so it always ran out of space.

So check your quota settings.

This update is junk. Do us all a favor and rip this trouble down from the Microsoft site and put it back only when it actually works.

On the bright side, I've earned almost $20K alone attempting to fix this issue, only to be forced to reinstall WSUS from scratch.

On the not so bright side, the management who hired me is now looking at 3rd party tools to replace WSUS as they were already insecure to begin with and adding in this problem........................

In other words, GET YOUR STUFF TOGETHER MICROSOFT!!!!
